yep
in the menu, before you start the game, where you choose, how AI players you want. You can see your color on your icon. Then hit back then next. And your color should change.
Repeat until you got the color you want

But, I am a bit disappointed that none of the links had a 'surprise' hidden in them... you are lossing your touch

Hey, finally saw Part 2. Why didn't you leave any ships behind when you jumped to a new planet. Thats why he (she, it, whatever) was able to get to your home planet. You could've put defenses in before there was even the possibliliy of attack, couldn't you?
Are the TEC the only faction in the beta?

this was kinda one of my first games, though, so didnt think about all that stuff to begin with
